After he is transferred to Kapur village, a place that shows no respect for the police and has kept its temple shut for fifteen years out of fear of the ruthless Nana Londhe, he thrashes his subordinates and earns the admiration of Renuka. The truth then emerges that the feared officer is actually Mauli's identical twin brother, who shares his name. When the brother dies trying to protect Mauli from Nana, Mauli is left alone in the village, forced to endure humiliation at Nana's hands.
