Movie Story : Dayanand Kumar, a stubborn 77-year-old, becomes convinced after an ominous dream that his death is near, and he asks his son Rajiv to take him to Varanasi so he can die in the holy city and attain salvation. Dutiful Rajiv sets aside his own life to accompany his father, and the two check into Mukti Bhawan, a guesthouse for people who have come to Varanasi to die. As days pass, Rajiv struggles to manage his responsibilities back home while his father seems to come alive in the hotel. Caught between granting his father's wish and holding his family together, Rajiv is forced to question what he truly must do.
