Movie Story : Set in the 1950s or 1960s, this drama follows a small North Indian village that still has no electricity, where the residents live in darkness and are absorbed in their own quiet sorrows and joys. Godhan, a member of the Mahato Tola, is cast out after refusing to hand over any part of his inheritance to the village and is wrongly accused by Munri's mother of singing improper songs for Munri. When the tola plans a celebration with its own panchlight, the sarpanch discovers that Godhan is the only one there who knows how to light a petromax, so he sets aside his pride, lifts the punishment, and sends for him.
